The community of the Pannon Winemakers Guild consists of Hungary’s most famous family-owned wineries. These are wineries that have made and continue to make an outstanding contribution to modern Hungarian wine history, building the domestic wine culture and gaining international recognition for Hungarian premium wines. Andrea Gere was elected President of this organisation.
Founded by ten family wineries, the Pannon Winemakers Guild now has more than thirty members representing all of Hungary’s wine regions. The election of new officers at the end of March is a symbolic event in the life of this quarter-century-old organisation, as a generational change is underway or has already taken place in several wineries, and this has also happened in the leadership of the Guild, with Andrea Gere elected as President and Tamás Thummerer and Ottó Légli as Vice-Presidents.
Andrea Gere summed up her thoughts on the serious and exciting task ahead: “We stand on solid ground. The founders of the Guild established a set of values that will always serve as our starting point. Everything we do is based on tradition, our heritage and respect for nature. Our task is to add to this our own generation, the new perspective and flexibility that we need to apply in our changing world in order to carry on the message of our founders and parents about wine, grapes and the land”.
The wineries of the Pannon Winemakers Guild welcome wine lovers to their cellars all year round, but they also meet several times a year to share their wines with the public. In collaboration with Stílusos Vidéki Éttermiség (Stylish Country Caterers), the Guild’s wines will be available at this year’s SVÉT in Tata, as well as at the festive and intimate Pannon Christmas event at the end of the year.
