The 30th Catad’Or World Wine Awards, an international wine competition, took place in Chile. Based on our experience, the South American market has a particular fondness for Villány red wines. We were therefore delighted that our 2023 Fekete Járdovány, 2021 Villányi Franc Ördögárok, and 2021 Kopar were all awarded gold medals.
The Catad’Or World Wine Awards have been running for over three decades. Five years ago, the event was complemented by the Catad’Or World Spirits Awards, which judge spirits. The organisers are proud of the programme’s growing international recognition and view the submission of more than 1,350 wine samples from 18 countries this year as a significant milestone.
A total of 346 medals were awarded at this year’s competition, including a gold for the 2023 A.GERE Fekete Járdovány, a rarity made from an ancient Hungarian grape variety that has achieved cult status at our winery. In addition, the 2021 A.GERE Villányi Franc, a wine that is particularly valuable to us because of its significance to the Villány winemaking community, and the 2021 vintage of our iconic Bordeaux blend, A.GERE Kopar, also received gold medals.
Hungary was the guest of honour at the 2025 competition. In addition to an exceptional number of Hungarian wines being evaluated, the jury participated in a masterclass organised by the Hungarian Embassy at the closing event, and a special concert was given by Hungarian artists.
