Pre-orders for the new 2023 vintage of Kopar will open on 1 October on the A.GERE website. In keeping with tradition, the winery’s iconic wine can once again be pre-ordered half a year before its release, in unopened wooden crates of twelve bottles. The wines will be delivered to customers in April 2027.
Under the pre-order scheme – the first of its kind on the Hungarian wine market and still the most popular to this day – the new Kopar vintage, due to be released next spring, is available for purchase again this year. Connoisseurs of serious red wines, capable of ageing for decades, can thus acquire the new Kopar vintage – available in crates of twelve bottles – at a lower price than the market price following its release, provided they place their orders after 1 October. Pre-orders are open until 30 October, unless the allocated stock runs out sooner – as has happened with previous vintages – so anyone wishing to be on the safe side should act as soon as possible.
The discounted price is our way of rewarding our customers for their trust, given that the purchase takes place six months before the wine becomes available to consumers. However, Kopar’s several-decade-long history and the Gere family name serve as a guarantee, as evidenced by the widespread interest seen during every pre-order period.
“After tasting the raw materials for our 2023 premium wines several times from the barrels in the cellar, we felt that this vintage is a proper expression of our ideals. We said, ‘This wine embodies the affirmation of life that the world needs,’” Andrea Gere recalls, reflecting on one of her most defining experiences with wine.
For those who would like a bit more glimpse behind the scenes, this is the tasting note for the 2023 Kopar:
A deep, dense crimson colour with high concentration. The nose is intense and complex: alongside ripe plums and blackcurrants, there are notes of cinnamon, vanilla, subtle hints of violet, graphite, tobacco and dark chocolate; the fruit, oak and spice are beautifully layered. On the palate, it is youthful, concentrated and lively: ripe blue plums and black berries with a distinct yet perfectly integrated oak framework, fine-grained, structured tannins and a very long finish. A highly concentrated, structured Kopar, which we predict will age beautifully – for at least twenty years, possibly much longer.
If this has whetted your appetite for a purchase, you should also be aware that if you place an order for twenty-four bottles of wine, you’ll receive a magnum bottle of the 2023 A.GERE Kopar as a free gift with your purchase.
