The Cité du Vin wine museum and interactive exhibition space is located in Bordeaux. The city that gives its name to the world-famous French wine region and is therefore the world’s centre for Cabernet and Merlot. That’s why it means so much to us that our flagship wine, Kopar, a blend of Villány Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, has been inducted into this exclusive wine treasure trove.

After a complex preparatory process, the Cité du Vin opened in summer 2017 and, as a testament to the huge interest in the building, it welcomed more than one million visitors by autumn 2018 and by spring 2022, that number has reached two million. The unique glass complex was designed by Anouk Legendre and Nicholas Desmazières.

The Cité du Vin’s permanent exhibition takes visitors on a journey through six universes and eighteen modules, tracing the history of viticulture and winemaking on five continents from ancient times to the present day. Spread over 3,000 square metres, the interactive exhibition not only uses classic educational tools, but also offers a complex experience that appeals to all the senses.

Part of the complex is the Belvedere, located on the eighth floor of the building, thirty-five metres above the ground, which not only offers views of the Bordeaux wine region but also functions as a wine bar. The Belvedere focuses on Bordeaux wines, of course, but thanks to a number of international collaborations, it also offers a selection of wines from around the world. In addition, the cellar of the Cité du Vin displays reference wines, more than 800 lots from 70 countries, including Kopar.

“In recent years there has been a growing international interest in Gere wines. It means a lot to us that the number of countries to which we can take the reputation of the Villány wine region, of Hungary, is constantly growing. The fact that Kopar is part of the reference collection in the cellar of the Cité du Vin in Bordeaux, one of the most prestigious wine regions in the world, is a milestone in this process,” said Andrea Gere on hearing the news.
