In keeping with its tradition, the Hungarian Wine Writers’ Circle has highlighted the wines that have had the greatest impact on its members over the past year. The multi-round nomination process was confirmed by blind tastings. We are delighted to report that our 2020 Vill\u00e1nyi Franc \u00d6rd\u00f6g\u00e1rok has been included in the list of Super 12 red wines.<\/p>\n
Of our two single-vineyard Vill\u00e1ny Franc wines, \u00d6rd\u00f6g\u00e1rok is the one that is presented to wine lovers after a slightly longer bottle ageing than Csillagv\u00f6lgy. If you’ve ever been to Vill\u00e1ny and visited this legendary terroir, you’ll know that \u00d6rd\u00f6g\u00e1rok is a natural amphitheatre where summer sunshine translates into soft, velvety tannins in the wines made from the grapes grown there.<\/p>\n
Although all our wines are very dear to us, the recognition of a Vill\u00e1nyi Franc, the brand of our wine community, has an added significance, as it is another step in strengthening the reputation of the Vill\u00e1ny wine region.<\/p>\n
The Hungarian Wine Writers Association commented on the distribution of this year’s winners in Hungary: “This year the wine writers chose the most wines from the Pannonian region (Vill\u00e1ny, Szeksz\u00e1rd, Tolna and P\u00e9cs) and the Balaton region (6 wine regions around Lake Balaton) as the top wines, six from each region. The Upper Pannonian region (Sopron, M\u00f3r, Etyek, Neszm\u00e9ly and Pannonhalma) follows with 5 wines, followed by Tokaj with 4. The Upper Hungary region (Eger, M\u00e1tra and B\u00fckk) is represented with 3 wines”.<\/p>\n
