[vc_row][vc_column width=”2\/3″ offset=”vc_col-sm-offset-2″][vc_column_text]At the end of 2024, we were delighted that our 2020 Vill\u00e1nyi Franc from the \u00d6rd\u00f6g\u00e1rok vineyard was included in the Hungarian Wine Writers’ Circle’s Super 12 red wines shortlist, and at the end of last year, the 2021 Kopar received the same honour.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Hungarian Wine Writers’ Circle’s end-of-year competition is conducted differently from the usual wine competitions. In the first round, the members of the organisation themselves nominate three dry white and three dry red wines that they consider to be outstanding. This is followed by several rounds of voting to determine the Super 12 lists for white and red wines, featuring those considered to be the most outstanding of the year.<\/p>\n

According to the organization’s statement, wines were listed in the following distribution in 2025: \u201cThis year, wine writers selected a total of ten wines from the Balaton wine region (comprising six wine regions around Lake Balaton) for the top wine list. The Pannon wine region (Vill\u00e1ny, Szeksz\u00e1rd, Tolna, and P\u00e9cs) had six wines on the list, the Upper Hungary wine region (Eger, M\u00e1tra, and B\u00fckk) had five, and the Tokaj and Upper Pannon wine regions (Sopron, M\u00f3r, Etyek\u2013Buda, Neszm\u00e9ly, and Pannonhalma) had one each.\u201d<\/p>\n

We are particularly pleased that five of our wines from Vill\u00e1ny have been selected for the red wine list. We share this recognition with the wines of the Bock, Ipacs Szab\u00f3 and Jackfall estates, as well as with G\u00e1bor Kiss, whose passing in December was a tragic loss that deeply affected our community. This makes us the wine region with the largest selection of red wines.<\/p>\n

The Kopar vintage currently available on the market is the 2021, and will be replaced by the 2022 vintage following last autumn’s pre-order period. As in previous years, Cabernet Franc forms the basis of our winery’s flagship wine in 2021, complemented by a larger proportion of Merlot and a smaller proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine continues to mature in our cellar after bottling, so that it is ready to be enjoyed by consumers when it reaches them, although it still has great potential for further development.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
